Joe Ford Fishing and Outdoors
When I was a child I use to dream about fishing and could not wait for the next chance I got to go to the lake. As a child, I'd wait so patiently for my family to take a trip up to Grandmas place on the lake. I would sit and organize my small tackle box and make sure everything was ready to go.
The lake was always a very special place for me. It is where I caught bull frogs with my cousins and fished from the dock. With the help of great parents who took me everywhere possible so I could make a few casts from shore or let me walk to the local creek to try and catch a trout, I was hooked! I have an uncle and a cousin who I can thank for the more serious approach to fishing and an intense love of the sport.
When I was old enough, and with the help of my folks, I bought my first boat. It was not the biggest or the fastest but it gave me the opportunity and experience to sharpen my skills. One day I was hanging out at the local tackle shop and one of the lodge owners asked if I could take some of his guests out fishing. He had expressed that they were having a difficult time catching fish and he feared that their trip would be a poor experience. I agreed to help out where I could. We met at the dock and ventured out to tackle some pretty tough conditions! I'm not going to tell you that we caught them all day but I do remember working hard to find a pattern and catching some nice fish for their trip! In exchange for my services all I asked was that they fill up the tank and thanked them for a wonderful experience. I had no idea what would become of my life after that moment and can honestly say that it was a life changing experience. Word of mouth traveled and now this 23 year old kid was servicing 30-40 lodges around the lake and learning the joys of being a profesionnal fishing guide.
Around the same time I began to compete in Bass Tournaments around Ontario, Canada and even ventured as far south as East Texas to compete. This is where I was introduced to a large side of the fishing industry. For 14 years now, I have been competing at all levels and now spend my time competing on the FLW Tour Costas Divisions and various Canadian Pro Bass events. East Texas is where I was also introduced to the second love of my life, behind my beautiful wife.... Lake Fork Texas! After 10 years of fishing and learning about this beautiful lake, I have began guiding full time during March through June and return to central Ontario to finish out my season on Rice Lake, Lake Scugog, Lake Muskoka, and various other beautiful lakes.
I am absolutley blessed and fortunate to do what I love for a living and I thank you with all my heart for taking the time to stop by and check us out. Joe Ford Fishing and Outdoors is a family run company and we feel that our guests should be treated as one of the family. Whether we are organizing a group event for you or an individual day on the lake, we promise to treat you and your group like one of the family!
"Making Your dreams come true"
All my life I have believed that dreams do come true. If the ups and downs have taught me anything at all, it's to never give up!
I feel so blessed and fortunate to be able to fish for a living! People always tell me how lucky I am. Honestly, I think they're wrong! The fishing is awesome but I get to share what I do with you, which is a much larger blessing!
